Brett Axelson - Cinnamon and Fire
Cinnamon and Fire - Nice intro, vocalized steady throughout, needs dynamics on the bass drum beat, guitar solo was a bit buried.
Dance Between the Raindrops - Experiments with vocal placement, I’d be interested in hearing a version w/o the vocalizer and only delay/verb. Again, guitar solo is a bit buried. Nice fade out
Driving Cold - Interesting vocal treatment exploration, steady beat throughout (needs dynamics?) narrow stereo field
Enjoy Your Stay - bluesy beat
Grind You Groove - Lots of room, same solo issue
It’s Love - Vocals need smoothing (too much vocalizer sauce). He opens up the horizontal space giving the song more room but still pretty squeezed vertically.
Lament - Finally, a relaxed song, still squeezed vertically, achieved with using fewer instruments
Long Neck Nights - Honky tonk, texas rock. Perhaps a bit repetitive with punch line
Notebook - Catchy lyrics, nice arrangements of instruments
Red Flag - Totally different groove. Intro voice needs a different ambience ( buried vocal). Because this song is so different, it stands apart better.
What I See In You - Tom Petty groove. Vocalizer backed off, still too much going on at times. Nicer guitar lick. A bit more open in the horizontal
Whisky Dents - Another Texas drinking song. Apart from the earlier songs. Drum beat much better flow. Perhaps the best mix.
